The two organisations joined forces for a successful two-year project

Caritas has completed its work with G15 Housing Association One Housing Group. The rates-recovery service has been assisting the housing provider with recovering overpaid business rates and council tax.

Caritas specialise in identifying and claiming back historical overpayments of council tax and business rates for organisations with charitable status.

The project with One Housing, which was announced in May 2019, has now been successfully completed, exceeding expectations of what would be achieved when first joining forces. The team at Caritas has enjoyed working together with One Housing and surpassing targets.

One Housing were the second member of the G15 Housing Association to partner with Caritas. Notting Hill Genesis have been working with the team since 2016.

The G15 is the group of London’s largest housing associations. Their members house one in ten Londoners and are the largest providers of affordable homes in the capital. Together they build a quarter of all London’s new homes and own or manage more than 600,000 homes.

One Housing builds, manages and maintains homes across London and the South East. They currently own and manage over 17,000 properties, providing homes to more than 35,000 customers.

In December 2021 One Housing Group joined fellow housing association The Riverside Group as a subsidiary. The partnership creates one of the country’s largest association groups, with over 75,000 homes.

One Housing has joined Riverside as a subsidiary for up to two years and will retain its own subsidiary board. After that One Housing and Riverside will integrate into a single housing association with one Board and leadership team.

While working to recover overpaid council tax and business rates, Caritas also plants trees for its clients. The team have committed to planting trees across the world and locally in the UK every time an invoice is paid.

It is part of their membership with Ecologi and desire to become a climate positive workforce to help tackle climate change.

During their time working with One Housing, Caritas are proud to have planted 2633 for the housing association. To date, Caritas has planted 12,206 trees, helping planting projects in Mozambique, Madagascar and Kenya, as well as here in the UK.
